Wellness of Tribal Children in Kandhamal District of Odisha
Following the footsteps of our beloved founder, funded by the Department of Science and Technology(DST), Govt. of India launches a project – “Wellness of tribal children in Kandhamal district of Odisha ” The project ensures – The water purification education and safe drinking water awareness by KSAS ( KIIT SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCES ). menstrual hygiene awareness and education by KIMS ( KALINGA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES ). oral health awareness and education with thorough evaluation of oral hygiene by KIDS (KALINGA INSTITUTE OF DENTAL SCIENCES) in tribal children from various schools of kandhamal district.
Inaugurating the endeavour Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble founder of KIIT & KISS group and hon’ble member of parliament said that welfare and wellbeing of tribal children is close to his heart and he is pleased to find that senior faculty from his organization are coming forward to share and work for his dream. Dr. Rojalin Sahu, Associate Professor in Chemistry and Associate Dean of Central Research Facility, KIIT Deemed to be University, PI of the project enlightened the students about the importance of safe and quality drinking water. Dr. Prasanta Rath, Professor in Chemistry, Dean, School of Applied Sciences has educated the students how to measure the different water quality parameters to ensure the safety of the drinking water. A team of researchers from School of Applied Sciences, Dr. Alok Kumar Panda, Asst. Prof. in Chemistry, Manoja Kumar Senapati, Technical Superident, Niharika Das, Research Scholar have demonstrated the measurement of water quality parameters and elaborated on the importance and various process of purification of water which would stimulate the young minds to adopt correct practice.
Participation of Research students under the scheme STUTI
The Scheme ‘Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure’ (STUTI) is intended to build human resource and its knowledge capacity through open access S&T Infrastructure across the country. As a complement to the various schemes of DST funding for expansion of R&D Infrastructure at academic institutions, STUTI scheme envisions a hands-on training program and sensitization of the state-of-the-art equipment as well as towards sharing while ensuring transparent access of S&T facilities.
Two of the students of Dr. Rojalin Sahu, Associate Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, School of Applied Sciences, Mr. Subrat Swain, M.Sc. and Ms. Sarswati Soren, Ph.D. scholar are selected for this programme among more than 200 applicants across the country. The programme was organized by Department of Chemistry, VNIT, Nagpur and NIT, Warangal from 8th -14th August, 2022.
